Is booking direct actually safe?
Fair question — you give up Airbnb's dispute process, so here is how it works instead. You pay a deposit to hold the dates, not the full stay. You get the building name, unit and the caretaker's number before you travel. The balance is settled on arrival once you are inside and satisfied. If anything is not as described, you have not paid for it yet. Payment is by M-Pesa, and you are dealing with a person on +254 740 180 214 — not a queue.
How much cheaper is direct, really?
KSh 7,000 a night, direct, with nothing added at checkout. Whatever a booking platform quotes on top of that is its host fee and guest service fee — charges that go to the platform, not the apartment. Send a screenshot of your quote on WhatsApp and you will get the direct figure back, no negotiating.
What happens when the power goes out?
The building's automatic generator takes the load in 10–15 seconds without anyone doing anything. Lights, Wi-Fi, water pump and lifts all stay on. In practice you notice a brief flicker mid-sentence on a call.
How does check-in work, and can it be flexible?
Contactless, via a smart keypad lock. Standard check-in is from 2:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM, but because there is no key to hand over, early arrival and late departure are usually possible — ask when you book and it will be confirmed in writing, not left vague.
Do you arrange airport pickup from JKIA?
Tell us your flight number when you book and a driver will be arranged for you at your own cost, quoted up front so there are no surprises. It is roughly a 30–45 minute drive depending on Mombasa Road. If you would rather use Uber or Bolt, set your destination to Oak Classic Residence, George Padmore Road — the pin is correct.
Is it suitable for working remotely?
It is one of the main reasons people book it. Fiber line, a real desk, backup power, and quiet during the day. Calls hold. If you need anything specific for a work trip, ask before you book rather than after.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival, with your deposit refunded in full. Inside 48 hours the deposit is held against the dates — but message us, because if the nights can be re-let they are refunded.
